Dental Implants in Winnipeg

When a patient is missing one or more teeth, dental implants from Linden Market Dental Centre in Winnipeg are the most permanent and comfortable solution. Dental implants are the ONLY treatment for a missing tooth that replaces an entire tooth (root and crown).  All other treatments for a missing tooth simply fill a gap where a tooth once was.  Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that are crafted from bio-compatible titanium and surgically grafted to the jaw bone. Once the jaws and gums have healed, and the artificial tooth roots have naturally grafted to the patient’s jaw bone, he or she will return to Dr. Rykiss’ office to have customized replacement teeth permanently attached.

With dental implants, there is no messy cleaning: in fact, nothing more than a good oral hygiene routine is needed to keep dental implants beautiful and strong for years to come. Plus, because dental implants are firmly affixed to the patient’s jaw bone, there is no slippage that is commonly associated with removable dentures; patients enjoy natural speaking and can eat all of their favorite foods without a worry. If you are tired of the mess and hassle of dentures, or if you would like to replace your missing teeth with the most natural-looking restorations, contact Dr. Les Rykiss at Linden Market Dental Centre today to schedule a consultation.

Am I Eligible for Dental Implants?

The best candidates for dental implants are patients with good oral health. During your dental implant consultation, Dr. Rykiss will determine your eligibility by determining the following:

  1. The health of your gums
  2. If you have enough bone to anchor the implants in the jaw
  3. If you are capable of maintaining your oral health once the implants have been implanted

People who may not be good candidates for dental implants include those patients who:

  1. Have jawbones who have not stopped growing yet (younger patients)
  2. Women who are pregnant
  3. Heavy smokers
  4. Have diabetes, significant immune deficiencies, hemophilia or connective-tissue disease
  5. Severely grind or clench their teeth

Although these are reasons that some patients may not be good candidates for dental implants only a consultation with Dr. Rykiss will determine your eligibility.

Tooth Replacement Options

If you are a patient who has one or more missing teeth, you may be eligible for the following tooth replacement options:

  1. Dental Implants: The most comprehensive procedure that most closely resembles your natural teeth.
  2. Dental Bridge: For patients who are missing one or more sequential teeth, dental bridges can be created that are affixed to the surrounding teeth via a custom made crown and bridge.
  3. Dentures: Our office offers both full and partial dentures for patients who want a tooth replacement option which is less permanent than dental implants yet still aids in speaking, chewing, and a natural-looking smile.
